Stevie Nicks meets Maren Morris for complex cowgirls
Kat Velasco calls herself a complex cowgirl. She was raised in the South, lives in Nashville and writes Western themes into storytelling pop about independence, love and growth. Her 2021 debut made Spotify's New Music Weekly and Fresh Finds Country, and CMT premiered her video for "Call Me." In a genre that prizes polish, she leaves the rough edges in. Her most exposed song yet, "I Should Quit Drinking," was written with and produced by Johnny Gates. It leads her 2026 EP, Cowgirl Complex.
